Volunteer Opportunities
Every week, our volunteer co-ordinator will email our list of volunteers with tasks that we need help with that upcoming week. Some of the opportunities listed are ongoing, meaning we need someone to come in every week. Others, such as transporting bunnies to our vet, are less frequent.
Bunny Laundry Angel:
Description:
Does the thought of giving bunnies a nice clean place to lie give you warm fuzzies? Are hay, bunny poo, pee, and fur no match for you? Would you like fabulously toned upper arms from shaking out and folding laundry? If so, we need you to help save our bunnies from themselves! At least once a week, each bunny living in an individual pen gets his/her floor sheet changed, and many bunnies also have towels. Towels are also used everyday for grooming and administering medication. The laundry must be shaken out and put into laundry bags and then driven over to and washed/dried at the laundromat on Victory Blvd., less than 10 minutes away. You will be given a load card that has credit on it which pays for the use of the machines, and bleach and detergent are provided by BunnyLuv. This is a great time to get some reading, brainstorming or homework done!
Time Involved:
4-5 hours (cut the time down by inviting a friend!) once a week, or 2-3 hours 2x/week
Can be done any day of the week except Monday and Friday
Requirements:
You must have a car and a valid driver's license
Must be able to lift ~25lbs (bags can get heavy)
Angel Bunny Transporter:
Description:
Are you a morning person? Would you like to brighten your Monday mornings by helping bunnies in need? This is a position for someone who can pick up bunnies in need of veterinary care on Monday mornings and take them from BunnyLuv to the VCA Arden Animal Hospital in Glendale. The bunny/bunnies would need to arrive in Glendale by 9am in order to be on time for their surgery that day, but they can be picked up from BunnyLuv as early as 7:00am, as early arrival at the hospital is not a problem. A BunnyLuv employee will place the bunny/bunnies in a carrier for you, so all you need to do is be the chauf"FUR"! You will leave the bunny/bunnies and the carrier at the hospital, so you will not need to return to BunnyLuv. Help is required often, but not every Monday.
Time Involved:
1 hour - 1.5 hours, depending on traffic. ~20 miles from BunnyLuv to VCA Arden. (Did you know? Miles driven for volunteering are tax deductible!)
Requirements:
Safe driving habits.
You must have a car and a valid driver's license.
Must be able to lift up to 15lbs (bunnies!)
There must be room inside the car for the carrier.
Hay Bagger:
Description:
Do you mind getting close with the hay? We need someone to help bag hay once or twice a week. Hay is weighed and packed into 10, 20, and 50 pound bags and stored away.
Time Involved:
2 hours per session
Requirements:
A tolerance for hay!
Apple Wood Cutter:
Description:
Are your hands strong and mighty? Can you use a ruler? Then you may be perfect for cutting apple wood! When we receive apple wood, it is cut into 10” pieces and placed in bags. Cutting the wood requires a strong grip!

2 hours

Use of pruning shears (provided)

Beautification Specialist:
Description:
Does creating a clean space make you feel better about life? Do you walk by a disorganized shelf in a store and stealthily put items back in place? If so, we could really use your help making and keeping BunnyLuv beautiful! We love our bunnies, but boy do they make a mess sometimes. With over 100 bunnies, it doesn’t take long before the shelter is blanketed in hay dust and bunny fur. We need help keeping our office space, store shelves, cage partitions, and walls beautiful! We also need weekly help keeping the sheets, towels, and supplies organized.
Time Involved:
Flexible - as little or as much as you have (bring a friend!)
Any days except Monday and Friday

A desire to make life better for the bunnies, employees, and clients of BunnyLuv!
